Acquiring PMP License #1 - What is PMP?

Have you heard of PMP? Project Management Professional (PMI) is an acronym for Project Management Professional. Project is a word that is used a lot in our life, but if you google it, it looks like this in Wikipedia.

In contemporary business and science, a project is an individual or collaborative enterprise, possibly involving research or design, that is carefully planned, usually by the project assigned team, to achieve a particular aim.[1]
One can also define a project as a set of interrelated tasks to be executed over a fixed period and within certain cost and other limitations.[2]
One can view projects as temporary (rather than permanent) social systems or as work systems that are constituted by teams within or across organizations to accomplish particular tasks under time constraints.[3] An ongoing project is usually[quantify] called (or evolves into) a program.


If so, how do you define it in PMI?
PMI publishes a book called PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge), which is defined here.





And other common features for Wikipedia or for projects are also listed in PMBOK. Rather, it is very specific. In other words, PMI and PMBOK are internationally recognized organizations and documents for Project Management, and PMP is an expert in this field.

And, Project is used in many industries (eg IT, shipbuilding, construction, etc) as much as it is understood in everyday life. If you do it in many ways, it means that it is used in many fields.
